They met in 2006 while they were sophomores at the University of Oregon shortly after Scott returned from traveling the world with Semester at Sea. While Scott was gone, Libby became close friends with his roommates, and they "subtly" suggested that she go on a date with Scott, who was currently off in Myanmar. She was skeptical...until they met that is.
Scott and Libby quickly became close friends. Libby often found excuses to go over to Scott's to hang out. Over the next year, they grew closer through hikes, games of Beirut, and Duck football victories. However, neither would admit they liked the other until finally, on Valentine's Day of their junior year, Scott asked Libby out. Just six months later, they said I love you and knew they wanted to marry each other.
After graduation they both decided to move to Seattle. Libby started law school at the University of Washington and Scott became immersed in the start-up tech industry. After Libby's last set of final exams for her second year of law school, Scott took her out on Lake Washington for a boat cruise over to their favorite restaurant in Seattle, Daniel's Broiler. Libby had (literally) an allergic reaction on the boat and began rummaging through her purse for her emergency stash of benadryl. Scott used the distraction to his advantage and, with cat-like reflexes, popped down on one knee and asked the million dollar question! She said "yes!" immediately.
The wedding is set for this August, 2012. Libby and Scott will be married at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Portland, Oregon, Libby's hometown. The church is sentimental to Libby and her family: her parents attended school there, and later married there. Her brother, aunts, and uncles also married there. The reception will be at Waverley Country Club, which also has special meaning for Libby's family, as her family has played golf there for generations.
We wish Scott and Libby all the happiness in the world and look forward to their Big Day!
