Engagement Session: A Happenstance Romance in Hilo

Brian and Carlynne were both born and raised in Hilo, a beautiful oceanfront town on the lush East side of the Big Island of Hawaii, but they didn't come together until they found themselves on an unplanned first date.

I love their happenstance romance and the fun, fresh love they emanate in these photos. Congratulations to a heart-warming couple! Enjoy their sweet story and photos below!

"We met 5 years ago when I invited him to get a few drinks for my birthday with some of our co-workers. When I got there, he was the only one who showed up! We discovered a connection that night and have been together ever since!" says Carlynne of their serendipitous first date. "His side of the story is a bit different of course; till this day he still thinks I tricked him into a date! But of course I didn't - it all happened this way for a reason! And, we are both glad it did."

Five years later, Brian got down on one knee and proposed to Carlynne in front of the Christmas tree on Christmas morning of 2011. "I was totally surprised!" says Carlynne, who was also delighted to discover later that Brian had arranged for the whole proposal to be secretly videotaped.
"Such a romantic - he was perfect, my ring was perfect and I am one lucky woman with a perfect proposal and video to remember each moment of it! The best Christmas of my life!"

Their mini engagement photo shoot was done last weekend just in time for Valentines Day. The photos were taken in their hometown of Hilo by James Rubio Photography
Their wedding will be on September 15, 2012 and the wedding ceremony will take place on a beautiful private ocean view estate in Umauma on the Big Island of Hawaii.
"We are so excited and cannot wait! Thank you for allowing us to share our joy and the happiness of our love and unity!" -Carlynne
Stay tuned for their wedding photos in the Fall!
