Marriage Proposal Tips

Valentine's Day will be here in a few short days, a time to tell your loved ones that you love and appreciate them.  Roughly 10% of proposals that happen every year happen on Valentine's Day.  In preparation to a Valentine's Day proposal, we want to share some proposal tips for you (or your boyfriend).

If you have traditional families, ask for her hand in marriage from her father and family before proposing.  You can even include the family in the event.

♥ If you are planning a public proposal, make sure you feel confident that she will say yes before you pop the question.

♥ Make the proposal about the two of you as a couple.  If you are a sports fan, but she isn't, don't bring her to the big game to propose.  Bring in memories from your times together: first date, concerts, vacations, passions, restaurants, etc.

♥ Find common interests and passions to incorporate into the proposal.  Are you adventurous, creative, high-tech, beach or mountain lovers, happy at home, etc.?

♥ Do your homework beforehand.  Do you know her ring size? Will she be available for the big event?

♥ If you are including food within your surprise proposal, make sure it doesn't distract from the beauty of the ring.  You don't want to put the ring in a chocolate cupcake just to have brown cake all over the diamond.  Also be sure not to have it so hidden that it chances being swallowed.

♥ Don't be afraid to think outside the common proposal ideas, make it unique to you.
